About the PDW

Date 16 July 2026
Location University of Technology Sydney Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

This paper development workshop (PDW) brings together researchers to receive collegial feedback, mentorship, and development support for manuscripts targeting Technological Forecasting and Social Change (TFSC). The PDW is open to all researchers preparing papers for TFSC, regardless of topic, while placing a featured focus on a current Special Issue at a pivotal moment in technology management research, where advances in Large Language Models (LLMs) are transforming how we engage with scientific literature, patent landscapes, market discourse, and beyond.

Workshop Objectives

The PDW pursues a dual objective. First, it aims to advance the practice of technology management by exploring how and under what conditions LLMs can be reliably integrated into managerial analysis, innovation intelligence, and strategic decision-making. Second, it seeks to stimulate theoretical innovation, prompting fundamental questions about technological evolution, innovation processes, and strategic agency that extend and challenge the foundational theories of our field. Participants will explore four overarching perspectives: LLMs as catalysts for theory development, as analytical engines for management insight, as interactive foresight platforms, and as subjects of critical reflection on efficacy and ethics.

Who Should Attend

We warmly welcome researchers from around the world working at the intersection of technology management, information science, computer science, scientometrics, innovation studies, science and technology policy, and organisation studies. Whether you are advancing empirical methods, building computational frameworks, or developing new theoretical perspectives on the role of AI in management research, this PDW offers a supportive and collegial space to refine your work and connect with an interdisciplinary community of scholars.
